You’ve heard about the 3 R’s, right? Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.
If you can’t Reduce It or Reuse It, then the Cubex Green Team wants you to Recycle It.
In the average workplace, about 80 to 90 percent of discarded waste is actually recyclable, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Today, Phoenix creates 1 million tons of trash each year, enough to fill Chase Field to the top 14 times.
Saying it again. . . Chase Field filling up 14 times every year with waste. Let that sink in.
Through the leadership of our Mayor and City Council, the city was challenged to increase the amount of waste diverted from landfills to 40 percent by 2020. To do our part towards being a Green Business Leader here in Phoenix and to divert our waste from the landfill, we ask you to ReThink. . . If you can’t Reduce It or Reuse It, then we want you to Recycle It.
As part of the Green Team’s Recycle Program Initiative, we have added blue recycle bins to office areas around Cubex HQ and the PHX Warehouse. Having more direct access to recycle bins has been proven to increase the rate of converting recyclable items from being thrown in the landfill waste basket, thereby helping Phoenix be more green.
“I don’t know what goes in the blue bin”.
Fair enough. It can be hard to decipher. Each city is different in what items they accept as recyclable. Let’s learn together. The Green Team has incorporated a Recycling Education Program that will provide signage to help guide everyone in this transition.
